Interdisciplinary PPIE workshopDescription
I designed and hosted jointly with Sharon Gordon an online Interdisciplinary PPIE workshop. The workshop was attended by 12 people from across disciplines (health services research, clinical trials, law, systemic approaches, nutrition), UOA departments (Interdisciplinary Challenge, R&I, PERU) and across sectors (LiberEat, NHS Grampian, Aberdeen City Council (ACC)). The outputs were captured using the Klaxoon platform and by a graphic illustrator (see attached visual summary). The workshop highlighted that the challenges with PPIE are similar across sectors, encompassing language barriers, power dynamics, communication, recruiting participants, diversity, building trust, feeding back and closing the loop, timing, and proper investment in terms of time and funding. Participants agreed a shared research project would be a good idea. Key outcomes of the workshop, in addition to identifying potential researchable questions, are that we have developed a better understanding of other sectors’ perspectives on PPIE and fortified multi-agency links, to help with the NDL and another developing multi-agency project, involving co-production with NHS and ACC in the PPIE component.| Period | 27 Jul 2021 |
