Lutz Schweiger studied Chemistry (1990-1996) at the University of Regensburg, in Bavaria, Germany. In 1995 he joined the research group of Prof. A.Merz, with whom he received his Diplom (MSc) in 1996. Thereafter, he moved to Aberdeen (Scotland) where he, in 2000, obtained a PhD in Organic Chemistry under the supervision of Dr K.S.Ryder.The dissertation was concerned with the synthesis, spectroscopic characterisation and electropolymerisation of new functionalised, heterocyclic, monomeric and trimeric compounds. In 1999 he joined the John Mallard Scottish P.E.T. Centre and currently holds a permanent position as Senior Research Fellow
