    Personal profile

I am a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Biological Sciences, University of Aberdeen. I have been working in the field of phycology on various aspects including algal stress physiology, lipid biochemistry, metabolomics, chemical ecology, chemotaxonomy and algal bioprospection pertaining to value added products for >10 years. Over a decade of my research experience, I have developed expertise in investigating algal (both macroalgae and microalgae) lipids, oxylipins, metabolites, volatiles, fatty acids, oxidative stress biomarkers, ROS and their physiological roles in algal stress physiology and ecology under different climate stressors. My research has led to 30 peer-reviewed publications in ISI-listed journals, 3 book chapters and one patent on the development of an integrated process to recover a spectrum of bio-products from fresh seaweeds (2016 International Patent WO 2015/102021A82018 US 10000579B2, 2018 EP3089999B1, 2019 AU2014374908B2), (h index- 19; citations 1276). I am particularly interested in establishing a deep understanding of how different algae interact with its abiotic and biotic environment from climate change perspectives using different omics approaches. Currently, I am working on the significance of halogen metabolism in seaweed pathosystems (HALOSPATH ).
