Abstract

Background:
Colorectal cancer is the third most common can-cer worldwide, with 1.4 million new diagnoses in 2012.1Inthe UK there were 41 581 new cases in 2011.2UK nationalbowel screening programmes were rolled out by 2010, butthere is a socio-economic gradient in uptake.3The ScottishGovernment prioritises screening as part of its Detect CancerEarly programme and is working with primary care to increaseinformed participation.
