Abstract
I am very grateful to the three reviewers for the attention and thoughtfulness they have brought to their reading of Militant Grace. All three are theologians from whose work I have benefitted much and who I hold in high regard. This makes their generous comments on the few merits of the book particularly welcome and meaningful to me. It also charges the good many critical questions and observations they develop with a significance sharpened by my appreciation of the integrity and depth of theological vision from which they arise. In the remarks of my own that follow here, I hope to engage open-handedly in the conversation they have kindly begun with the substance of the book and its proposals. As the three critics approach the book from quite distinctive perspectives and raise rather varied concerns, it seems best to reply to each in turn.
