Aching muscles after exercise

Abstract

STRENUOUS physical activity is normally accompanied by a subjective sensation of fatigue that disappears rapidly when the exercise is discontinued. For those unaccustomed to exercise, however, localised muscle soreness is commonly
experienced some few hours after exercise, and reaches peak intensity, which may be severe, about 24-48 hours later. As a result of an increased awareness of the health benefits of exercise, many people are taking up exercise for the first time;
unfortunately, many individuals are so discouraged by the experience of muscle soreness after an initial session that they never make another attempt.
