Abstract

In some plane stress problems, accurate simulation of concrete behaviour under biaxial conditions is necessary for realistic predictions of structural response and failure loads to be made. An isotropic, non-linear, elasto-plastic strain hardening model is described. By using a circular function transformation to define progressive plasticity after initial yielding, the strain energy functional for unfractured is made C continuous. The suitability of the model is illustrated using example analysis of reinforced concrete structures in plane stress.
