This presentation is based on a review of secondary data sets from the Education Management information System (EMIS) in Malawi. We have attempted to adapt and apply the principles of an equity framework by James (2007). The Education Management Information System (EMIS) statistics we are interested in were for a period of 10 years – between 2008 - 2017. During this period, the government of Malawi was implementing a National Education Sector Plan and strategy in its drive to promote equitable access to primary education.
