Abstract

The currently accepted closed-cup flash points of four common organic compounds-formic acid, glycerol, ethylamine and dimethylamine-are examined for consistency with the principles of stoichiometry, vapour pressures and flammability limits. For all four, the examination suggests that the flash points are in significant error on the hazardous side. (C) 2002 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
