Abstract

The chapter analyses the toponymic corpus and the contribution of names in a landscape setting in western Norway in the Late Iron Age and (Nordic) Early Middle Ages, an area which is considered to be the first Norwegian kingdom. The volume is centred around the old royal seat of Avaldsnes.
