Following earlier work on the axial crushing of foam-filled sheet metal tubes of square and rectangular cross-section and empty tapered tubes the behaviour of foam-filled tapered tubes is considered. Theoretical estimates of the variation in the mean crushing loads for both quasi-static and dynamic loading conditions are provided and compared with experimental data.
