N2 - This special issue was compiled with the aim of advancing research of carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) in tight reservoirs. Tight reservoirs are typically composed of organic rich shaley rock-types that due to burial and heating have matured to produce hydrocarbon. With very low porosity and permeability the matured hydrocarbon did not migrate, but remained trapped in the source rock. Due to the poor flow properties of these rocks the hydrocarbons are recovered in unconventional ways, and thus termed unconventional resources. Specialized solutions are needed to induce a hydrocarbon flow rate sufficient for the operation to be economically viable...
