Abstract

Early detection and appropriate management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) may help to reduce the high mortality and morbidity associated with this disease. New pharmacological treatments for COPD, along with the implementation of recommendations of the National Strategy for COPD due for publication later this year, will help to raise the standard of care and improve outcomes for COPD patients. In this article, Professor Price and Rhonda Siddall consider current COPD therapy and look at future treatment options for COPD.
