Abstract

Statistics and data handling are essential skills in medical sciences which students often find challenging. In response to a key recommendation in our recent Internal Teaching Review, we aimed to develop optional online resources to increase teaching in this area. These resources entitled “A Practical Guide to Data Analysis” and “Introduction to R”, took the form of short lecture recordings including coding demos. To allow students to conduct analysis in their own time, we also provided simulated datasets, cheat sheets and a R notebook containing code with the expected outputs. Here, we share our experiences of developing these new resources.
