Abstract
Penetration tests have been performed on 25 mm thick woven glass-phenolic laminates using 7.5 mm diameter conical indenters over a velocity range of 0 to 150 ms-1. Force-penetration characteristics have been measured using an indirect approach for the dynamic tests based upon a signal deconvolution technique. Quasi-static and dynamic penetration mechanisms are briefly described and changes in the in-plane (Rip) and through thickness (Rtt) resistances are quantified.
