Bibliographical note

The authors would like to acknowledge the support provided by colleagues at the University of Aberdeen. The book stems largely from our development of the Early Years Postgraduate Certificate in 2009 which was funded by the Scottish Government. We were strongly supported in our initial bid and then the ongoing development by our then Head of School Myra Pearson. Others who deserve special thanks include Yvonne Yule and Alison Nicol for their valued expertise in ECEC over many years, Alan Paterson for sharing his expertise and photos regarding transient art and Liz Curtis for sharing her work on ‘community walks’.

We especially want to acknowledge how much we have learned from all of our students and thank them for the materials some of them have allowed us to use.

We would like to thank Jude Bowen at SAGE for her very positive, encouraging assistance and we are all grateful to our long-suffering families.
