Abstract

Two generalized rate equations describing single-mode CO2-laser dynamics are derived by applying the center-manifold theory to an improved four-level scheme. The model is studied in the case of periodic modulations of the losses and compared with the outcome of an experiment, revealing an excellent agreement.
