Extra-Framework Sites in H-AL MFI and H-GAMFI Zeolite Catalysts

Abstract

This paper presents results of Si-29, Al-27, Ga-71 and Xe-129 NMR experiments aimed at characterizing extra framework sites in aluminosilicate and gallosilicate MFI zeolites. it is shown that the presence of extra-framework aluminium or gallium species inferred from solid state NMR measurements is confirmed by Xe-129 NMR measurements of physisorbed xenon. Xe-129 NMR also indicates changes in the nature of the extra-framework sites on the steam treatment.
