N2 - 30min practice-as-research film which draws on a series of photographs held in Harvard’s photographic collection taken by the artist Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956) from his apartment window in Berlin in the mid-1930s shortly before having to leave for America. This visual study takes the form of a city symphony film, reconsidering Feininger's imagery as palimpsests that comment on Berlin’s Nazi era and the contemporary urban environment. Research and filming undertaken in Berlin and at Harvard.
