Abstract

Throughout this book-length study of the concept of the everyday, Eran Dorfman consistently reminds us that the “foundations” referenced in the book's title are not some kind of static, lost origin that must be dug out of the past. Dorfman's project is much more pragmatic than that; it consists in an analysis of the cyclical process of experience, through which certain shocking events are retroactively assimilated into the personal history of an individual.
