Abstract
This themed issue on molecular medicine and cancer explores the impact of chemistry on recent developments in cancer therapy and the prospects for future step-changes, in particular new approaches to targeted/personalized therapies, chemoprevention and the emergence of drug discovery in academia. Clinical success stories are highlighted as well as selected examples of novel compounds in development.
