Abstract
The scope and aims of the Scottish Bus Group’s Market Analysis Programme (SCOTMAP) are described. Research being carried out in the Geography Department, Aberdeen University, on the effects of SCOTMAP in rural areas is outlined, and some initial findings are discussed. Finally, SCOTMAP and the research previously outlined are set in the context of the deregulation of stage carriage bus services as incorporated in the 1985 Transport Bill.
