Abstract
In 2010, librettist Peter Davidson, composer Paul Mealor and I co-created the opera 74 Degrees North, commissioned by Scottish Opera as part of their Five:15 series. Our opera, set in the Arctic on the last day of summer before the snows return and the temperatures plummet, consists of music for instruments and voices along with an electroacoustic sound score. I have taken elements of this sound score to create a sound installation which evokes, through sound, the stark, cold nature of the arctic environment.
