Abstract

The aim of this essay is to examine an intriguing reference in the registers of the Aberdeen burgh council to the wreck of a ship of Danzig known as the Jhesus. The ship seems to have run into difficulties on the evening of 8 October 1530 as a result of a ‘storme of the wedder’ off the coast of the Scottish city.
