Although banking applications of expert systems are becoming more common, little consideration has been given to either the strategies motivating their development or to the impacts resulting from their use. This paper describes the strategy and impacts of expert systems development and use in banking, in particular in the domain of bank lending. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
