Abstract

Drug-associated AKI is a common cause of iatrogenic AKI in hospitalized patients. Drugs can cause AKI via a variety of mechanisms, including parenchymal damage to the kidneys by acute tubular injury, acute interstitial nephritis, or intratubular precipitation of crystals, as well as through hemodynamic effects that can lower glomerular filtration rate without causing parenchymal injury.
