Abstract
How does an artist made famous through love-themed hip-hop, with a brief foray into IRI propaganda-themed releases, become a vocal critic of the IRI? Tataloo transitioned through a series of seemingly reactionary morphological artistic changes; meanwhile, the IRI stepped in to appropriate his art form for their political interests, as has been their practice over the past decade; an inauthentic alliance between artist and state, with a disenchanted public who are aware of such duplicities.
