Abstract

The new compound, K3SeO4F. has been synthesised by solid state reaction and its structure determined by analogy with -K,SO4F. It is tetragonal, space group I4/mcm. a=7.3262(3) c= 11.112( 1 ) A, and may be regarded structurally as a layered double salt, KF:K,SeO4. K3PO3F, has been shown to have the same structure, with PO,F tetrahedra replacing the SO4 groups. The oxygen and fluorine are disordered over the tetrahedral sites, in contrast to potassium difluorophosphate, KPO-,Fi, in which the anions are ordered.
