In the wake of the recent revival of the study of quarrels and controversies, pamphleteer literature, from the Wars of Religion to the reign of Louis XIV, has received particular critical attention. However, there has generally been little interest in the reception of pamphlets beyond the controversies that gave rise to them. It is from this angle that we will consider here the libels of the Fronde. Calling upon all genres and styles, these controversial texts, some 5,500 works published in the space of five years, express the most violent satires and the most daring political ideas.
