Abstract

The ability of an animal to measure the duration of a melatonin signal relies on the continuous presence of the melatonin receptor. How, therefore, is the melatonin receptor regulated? With the cloning of melatonin receptor sequences from a number of different animals we are now in a position to address the question of receptor regulation. In this article we review the current data on melatonin receptor gene expression.
