Abstract

The research uses a variety of methods to develop our understanding of links between the safety of patients and the well-being of NHS staff, on the one hand, and the culture or style of the organisation on the other. The team includes experts in industrial and health psychology, management and sociology, medical and health services research and in nursing. It includes practising managers as well as distinguished academics. The combination of methods and of approaches to researching these issues is new and will produce novel insights into questions that are usually researched separately and from individual academic disciplines.
