Abstract

Uppsala is the Swedish place name most mentioned in the Icelandic sagas and poetry, but the pace has a contested history. By adding one new source, toponymy, to the brew , it is possible to see the importance of the place as a mythic place in the 'east', vital for the mythology created in Iceland.
