Abstract
This report presents the results of the 2005 field season at Vatnsfjörður, northwest Iceland, and forms part of the volume by Adolf Friðriksson, Torfi H. Tulinius and Garðar Guðmundsson (eds.), Vatnsfjörður 2005: Fornleifarannsóknir/ Fieldwork at Vatnsfjörður, NW-Iceland. Next to a Viking Age house (skáli) that was excavated by Ragnar Edvardsson, a pit was excavated, which was infilled with midden deposits, fire cracked rock, charcoal, and artefacts including a two iron knife blades, a bone pin, five glass beads, jasper and grey flint strike-a-lights, and a gold foil pendant that originally been from an Irish kite brooch. Further east of the Viking Age house, two outdoor hearths and a cooking pit were excavated, and a smithy was uncovered, between which were extensive sheet midden deposits.
