Abstract

Tulinius and Garðar Guðmundsson (eds.), Vatnsfjörður 2005: Fornleifarannsóknir/ Fieldwork at Vatnsfjörður, NW-Iceland. Next to a Viking Age house (skáli) that was excavated by Ragnar Edvardsson, a pit was excavated, which was infilled with midden deposits, fire cracked rock, charcoal, and artefacts including a two iron knife blades, a bone pin, five glass beads, jasper and grey flint strike-a-lights, and a gold foil pendant that originally been from an Irish kite brooch. Further east of the Viking Age house, two outdoor hearths and a cooking pit were excavated, and a smithy was uncovered, between which were extensive sheet midden deposits.
