Abstract
This multi-authored report, edited by Karen Milek, contains the results of the 2009 field season at Vatnsfjörður, northwest Iceland, as well as specialist reports on the ongoing zooarchaeological, entomological and artefactual analyes. On the Viking Age part of the site, the earliest phases of a Medieval animal building with a stone pavement were excavated (Structure 7), as well as a late Viking Age animal building with paving stones and an organic floor deposit. Below the eastern wall of this earlier animal building there was a foundation deposit consisting of ten cakes of refined iron, neatly stacked with five on top of five. On the Farm Mound, excavations further revealed the remains of a large turf house dated 1884-1907, and unearthed 1100 new arefacts.
