Wake instability mechanism for wave formation in explosive welding

Abstract

Two recent theories of interface wave formation in explosive welding are compared and shown to be similar. The relationship between the two is discussed. The extension of the theory to cover a welding arrangement of practical importance is discussed and a major difficulty is identified.
