Abstract

We investigate the guiding properties of a photonic quasicrystal fiber with a solid core surrounded by five ring air holes by finite element method. We report a large nonlinearity (γ = 4040.85 W-1km-1), low dispersion (≈ 0.012 ps/nm.km) and group birefringence, (0.00919) for a wide range of wavelengths from 200 to 3000 nm. These optical properties would be useful for generating few cycle pulses.
