Artificial Reefs are not a new idea. Primitive man noticed fish aggregating around branches and rocks in rivers. This presentation will give a brief overview of Artificial Reefs; their functions and uses, starting with the concept of Fish Aggregation Devices (FADs) and finishing with Rigs-to-reefs. It will cover some of the biological and economic benefits of artificial reefs and provide an insight into their use globally. The content is not intended to be controversial but rather inspire some food for thought…
