Abstract
The Missa Sancti Albanus is an attempt at an unaccompanied mass setting which is largely polyphonic and inspired by the great settings by the Renaissance masters. The piece uses an earlier motet, Prayer to St Alban (2016), as the Kyrie and this material then informs the following movements. As well as inspiration from the likes of Palestrina and Byrd, there is much from other more recent composers such as Vaughan Williams, Martin, Howells and MacMillan.
