Abstract
It is remarked that the computer-generated results (and more) regarding symmetries of the Ken spacetime recently reported by Jerie et nl (1999 Class. Quantum Grav. 16 2855) are well known and that similar results for other standard spacetimes can be obtained by geometrical techniques.
