I am a Medical doctor by background with over 15 years of experience as a Public Health researcher and educator. I specialise in Obesity epidemiology, specifically in lifestyle behaviour modification for management of Obesity and related morbidities. My research interests include Young adult obesity in transition periods (adolescence to young adults), Maternal obesity, Infertility among obese women and ‘Double burden’ of over and under nutrition in transition countries (with economic and demographic shifts). I have expertise in Systematic Reviewing of the literature and Mixed method study design (combining quantitative and qualitative methods). I apply ‘Behavioural change theories’ and ‘Participatory action research’ in developing lifestyle interventions.
I also have extensive experience in Teaching and Learning. I coordinate and teach on several undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and courses, both subject related and methodological. I teach on obesity epidemiology, double burden of under and over nutrition, evidence based health, mixed methods study design and qualitative research methods. I conduct CPD workshops for academics and health care professionals on cutting edge research methods. My pedagogical approaches strives to develop and improve course curriculum, improve student learning outcomes and improve the efficiency of student assessments.
