The problem of the contact interaction of the edges of a plane elliptical crack under a normally incident time-harmonic tension-compression wave was solved by the method of boundary integral equations. The dependence of the stress intensity factor (mode I) versus the ratio of axes of the ellipse was investigated. The results obtained in the vertices of the minor axis and the major axis were com-pared.
