Abstract

A system has been developed for the analysis of signals that vary in a linear manner with several parameters. The method allows simultaneous extraction of those parts of the signal which vary as each modulation parameter, and also any parts which depend on chosen products of the modulation parameters. The method has been used to measure small shifts of resonance frequency in molecular beam experiments, when a sensitivity approaching the limit set by shot noise has been achieved.
