Abstract

(CN3H6)(2)(.)(VO)(3)(H2O)(3)(HPO3)(4)(.)3H(2)O, a new guanidnium-templated vanadium(IV) phosphite is built up from a (3,4) net of VO5(H2O) pseudo squares and HPO3 pseudo pyramids, sharing vertices as V-O-P bonds. These polyhedra self assemble around the extra-framework guanidinium cations and water molecules, which appear to exert their templating effects in orthogonal directions, to result in a very-low-density framework containing intersecting 12-ring channels. Crystal data: (CN3H6)(2)(.)(VO)(3)(H2O)(3)(HPO3)(4)(.)3H(2)O, M-r = 749.00, orthorhombic, Pna2(1) (No. 33), a = 19.0766(13) Angstrom,b = 9.1657(6) Angstrom, c = 14.1806(9) Angstrom, V = 2479.5(3) Angstrom(3), Z = 4, R = 0.050, R-w = 0.094.
