Abstract
Professor John Agnew makes a convincing case for the meaninglessness of Brexit, a vain attempt to recreate a kind of nation-state that never existed. It is perhaps ironic that this project should have gained electoral success (if not practical reality) in the UK, where the unitary nation-state was only even an aspiration between 1945 and the 1970s.
