Abstract

Some organizations see GDPR as a good opportunity to assert their brand's strength in protecting user data and helping with overall business growth. Because GDPR is not a temporary directive but a mandatory law, all companies and organizations operating in Europe must strictly comply. Any company or organization that violates the provisions of GDPR risks facing a fine of up to 4% of total annual global turnover of the previous financial year or 20 million Euros, depending on the figure. Which number is larger? Article 83 of GDPR stipulates that companies can be fined 2% if they do not have proper records, do not notify supervisory authorities and data subjects about a breach or do not carry out an impact assessment.
