Abstract

Rationale: Respiratory symptoms are common and troublesome across the spectrum of obstructive lung disease, but many questionnaires are specific to asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The Respiratory Symptoms Questionnaire (RSQ) was developed to assess respiratory symptoms without assuming a specific diagnostic label. The content was conceptually based on clinical guidelines, primarily the extension of Global Initiative for Asthma symptom control criteria to patients with COPD.
