Vatnsfjörður 2007: Framvinduskýrslur/Interim Reports

This multi-authored report, which was edited by Karen Milek, presents the results of the 2007 field season at the site of Vatnsfjörður, northeast Iceland, as well as the specialist reports on the ongoing artefactual, zooarchaeological, archaeobotanical, archaeoentomological, geoarchaeological, geophysical, palaeoeclimatalogical and sea level analyses. At the Viking Age part of the site, the earliest phases of the smithy (Structure 3) and a small storage building (Structure 4) were completed, the latter of which had a whale bone foundation deposit under its northwest wall. In a new excavation area west of Structure 4, a Medieval animal building with a paved floor was uncovered (Structure 7). On the Farm Mound, excavations concentrated on post-abandonment and demolition debris from the 1884-1907 turf farm house, and began to reveal the layout of the last phase of walls and pavements.
